Mom’s Garden
Okay, since I’m talking about my trip to Kentucky, I might as well brag on my mom. While I was there, we spent a few mornings and evenings sitting on her back porch screened from the mosquitoes. We watched the finches, rabbits, squirrels, and chipmunks scurry for the feast my mom provides them. Sometimes we sat in silence soaking in the glorious array of flowers. But more beautiful than the flowers, was the time we spent together bringing our lives back together. I can’t share with you the beauty of a mother/son relationship, but I can share the beauty of her garden. Enjoy.

Yellow Flower
(As you can see, I’m very technical when it comes to naming flowers)
Finch Food
Sometimes there were 8 or 10 finches of various colors fighting for food. Unfortunately, mom said the bright yellow ones had already moved on.
Buds bring to mind possibility and the anticipation of what might come. However, if we spend too much time in anticipation we miss the present beauty. In reality, sometimes the buds are the possibility.
Late Bloomer
This particular flower (whatever it’s name) bloomed every evening at dusk. One evening we watched the buds unfold before our eyes as the evening light faded.
As you may have noticed from my last posting, I like black and white photographs. However, when I do color, I like to see contrasting colors–orange and blue in a field of green, for example. I hope you’ve enjoyed my mom’s garden.
