Doors
I’m not certain what attraction I find in doors. Perhaps they represent for me mystery. To enter a strange doorway is to move from the light and brightness of what is known to the dimness and strangeness of what is unknown. Sometimes doorways are the portals to remarkable places. Sometimes they are quite disappointing. I will never know, however, unless I risk entering. Unfortunately, rarely do I have the opportunity to enter the doors I photograph. The other side remains a mystery about which I can only speculate and wonder. Each of the photographs shown in this post I took in Morocco a couple of summers ago.

Worth the Climb
Morocco Home
This Morocco door was situated on a hill facing a dark ally. Emerging from the ally I moved from dark to light. Entering the door would have taken me back into the darkness of someone’s home. Every darkness belongs to someone.
Doors into Doors
This darkened door frame in an orphanage led into a courtyard lined with additional doors, each leading to bare rooms occupied by forgotten children. Some doors open us to the possibility of numerous other doors. They open to us opportunities too numerous to count. However, we may hesitate to enter such doors because the options presented to us on the other side are too overwhelming.
Door within a Door
These massive doors led into a well-manicured courtyard walled off from the noisy street, a place for the elite and powerful. Those who entered here were required to bend and bow through the smaller door. Some doors are simply too huge to open, and some of the most beautiful doors are meant to keep us out. Largeness doesn’t mean we cannot enter. However, entering may require humilty.
Humble Home
This door leads into the home of a humble school teacher. Inside we were presented a feast fit for a king. It was a sacrificial gift of gratitude and appreciation, a demonstration of thanksgiving and love. You never know where a door will lead.

Hi Joey,
This is way cool. I, unfortunately am not into blogging……it’s intimidating.
Love your photos as well as narratives.
This reminds me of my Webshots…..
