This lovely view through a door in the ancient castle on Ghana’s southern shore is the view the slave trade masters had of the ocean. Knowing this makes something beautiful into something obscene.
This young entrepreneur was trying to make a living selling pre-peeled oranges outside a restaurant. I didn’t buy one of his oranges, but payed him a little to pose for me.
Few things are more important to some men than their hat. This one has seen some wear. Yet it still provides an air of dignified distinction to this village elder.
Boredom is a universal condition. These girls watched with what appears to be little interest as the foreigners talked to the elders in their village.
