A Cold Walk to Work

I wouldn’t mind walking to work even in the cold if I could enjoy this beautiful park along the way every morning.  However, I know that even if this were my route, before long I would stop noticing its charm.  My mind would turn to the work ahead of me, and I would miss the shadows, the natural canopy, and the way the morning light reflects off the snow.  Although  this is not the sidewalk I take to work, I do have my personal routes.  Perhaps if I took the time to open my eyes I might find beauty on my morning commutes as well.  Unique and wonderful beauty is always around me.  Open my eyes and behold.

Guatemala's Ceiba Tree

The Ceiba tree (also known as kapak, Silk Cotton Tree, and Yaaxché in Mayan) is Guatemala’s national tree.  It grows to 70 meters in height and is truly majestic.

Great White Egret Having Lunch

I caught this Great White Egret having lunch in the pond behind my house.  He stood as still as a statue for quite some time until this unsuspecting fish wandered by.  He then struck with such furry and speed that the poor fish didn’t have a chance.

Red Barrel Cactus

I found this Red Barrel Cactus outside a visitor’s center close to Roosevelt Lake in Arizona.

Wildflowers

The wildflowers bloomed in multiple varieties and colors all over the meadows during my 2008 trip to Colorado’s Elk Mountains.  Those who hike these mountains often told me they had never seen them quite so plentiful or colorful in August.
